Security has been significantly reinforced around the United States Capitol following Iranian missile strikes that impacted the United States Embassy in Kuwait amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

According to sources cited by CNN, the embassy compound in Kuwait was affected during bombardments carried out on Sunday and Monday as Iran expanded its retaliatory operations across the region.

While the diplomatic facility was reportedly impacted, U.S. officials confirmed that no injuries were recorded. However, authorities declined to clarify whether the embassy sustained a direct hit. Smoke was seen rising near the compound on Monday, fueling concerns over potential structural damage and the safety of personnel and residents in the surrounding area.

In an urgent security alert, the U.S. Embassy warned of an ongoing threat of missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks across Kuwait.

“There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait,” the embassy stated.

American citizens were strongly advised to remain indoors, avoid visiting the embassy, and take shelter on the lowest floor of their residences away from windows.

“Do not come to the Embassy. Take cover in your residence on the lowest available floor and away from windows. Do not go outside,” the advisory read, noting that embassy staff were “sheltering in place.”

The mission has also suspended all visa operations and American Citizen Services appointments until further notice due to the deteriorating security environment.

Back in Washington, authorities moved swiftly to heighten protective measures at the Capitol complex. The Office of the Sergeant at Arms confirmed coordination with the United States Capitol Police and other intelligence agencies to closely monitor developments tied to the Middle East conflict.

In a notice circulated to lawmakers, officials stated that enhanced security protocols and a more visible police presence have been implemented across Capitol grounds.

Despite the increased vigilance, authorities emphasized that there are currently no specific or credible threats targeting the Capitol.

SUNTV Global Channel will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates as events unfold.
