Suspected terrorists have carried out a deadly attack on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of , leaving at least three officers dead and two others injured.
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Saturday around 3:00 a.m., when heavily armed assailants stormed the facility and opened fire on unsuspecting officers.
Sources within the community said the attackers appeared well-coordinated, catching security personnel off guard. The sudden gunfire threw residents into panic, forcing many to flee their homes in search of safety.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, , acknowledged the attack, stating that further details were still being compiled.
“I regret to confirm that an attack on the PMF camp occurred in the early hours of today. More accurate and detailed information will be provided shortly,” she said.
The latest assault adds to a growing wave of insecurity in the state. Just days earlier, armed attackers reportedly invaded Oko-Erese community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, killing two farmers and abducting two women during a violent raid on farmlands.
According to local sources, the attackers targeted farmers at work, killing two on the spot before whisking away two women whose identities remain unknown. In a separate incident, another resident narrowly escaped death but sustained serious injuries after being attacked while trying to flee.
There have also been reports of an ambush in Babanla community, where a forest guard and a civilian were attacked while travelling on a motorcycle, leaving one person abducted and another critically injured.
The series of attacks has heightened fear among residents, raising fresh concerns over security in parts of Kwara State, as communities continue to grapple with recurring violence.
