A disturbing video has revealed what appears to be a hidden arms marketplace operating within a Nigerian town, where suspected bandits and terrorists openly displayed and advertised sophisticated weapons for sale to armed groups.
The footage, obtained by SaharaReporters and reviewed by SUNTV Global Channel, shows several masked men inside a room filled with large quantities of firearms and ammunition.
In the video, multiple rifles are laid out while boxes of bullets are stacked across the floor. Some of the armed men attempt to conceal their identities, while a voice speaking in Hausa calmly markets the weapons, describing them as readily available for purchase.
At one point, the narrator gestures toward the armed guards and weapons, stating that they belong to the group and are fully under their control. He further boasts about their firepower, suggesting the weapons were already secured regardless of how they were obtained.
Security sources reacting to the footage described the development as deeply alarming, saying it reflects a growing trend of armed networks embedded within towns supplying weapons to bandits operating in forests and rural areas.
According to one source, the video clearly shows the group inviting herdsmen and other armed fighters to come and buy advanced weaponry, including assault rifles and anti-aircraft guns.
The source expressed concern over how non-state actors could gain access to such high-grade military equipment, warning that the scale of the operation suggests possible backing from powerful sponsors.
Security officials also lamented what they described as a dangerous imbalance between the weapons in the hands of bandits and those available to frontline security personnel.
They warned that the situation poses a major threat to national security, stressing that ordinary citizens continue to bear the consequences of escalating armed violence.
Authorities have yet to officially comment on the authenticity of the footage or announce any arrests linked to the alleged arms market.
