Pastor Isah Lazarus Alkali of Living Faith Church, Azugwu, has called on Christians to return to genuine prayer, fasting, and holiness, declaring that fasting remains one of God’s most powerful tools for spiritual empowerment, revelation, and lasting transformation.
Speaking during a special ministration broadcast live on SUNTV Global Channel, Pastor Alkali stressed that any true engagement in prayer and fasting must result in tangible spiritual power in the life of the believer. According to him, fasting without visible impact is an indication that essential spiritual principles may have been ignored.
The cleric identified holiness as the foundation of spiritual greatness, warning that no amount of anointing can substitute for a righteous life. He explained that spiritual sight and understanding are impossible without divine revelation, noting that God reveals Himself only to those who seek Him through prayer, fasting, and the Word.
Quoting Luke 4:4, Pastor Alkali said fasting deepens intimacy with God and strengthens a believer’s dependence on divine sustenance rather than physical provision.
“If God does not reveal, you cannot see,” he said. “Revelation comes through fasting, prayer, and a life aligned with God.”
He further explained that encounters with God are essential for believers to shine on earth, stressing that fasting and prayer create the spiritual atmosphere for such encounters. According to him, spiritual visibility in the world is a product of divine encounters in God’s presence.
Citing Job 5:9, Pastor Alkali described God as one who performs great and unsearchable things, wonders without number, declaring that the year 2026 will usher believers into blessings and manifestations beyond human expectations.
Drawing from Psalm 63:1, he assured the congregation that anyone who seeks God early will surely find Him, emphasizing that fasting positions believers for early access to divine direction, instruction, and favor.
The pastor went on to explain that fasting produces undeniable spiritual breakthroughs, referencing Isaiah 58:6, which describes fasting as God’s chosen instrument to loose the bands of wickedness, undo heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke.
“If you never fast, you will suffer, no matter how anointed you are,” he declared, adding that prayer and fasting remain God’s ordained means for destroying yokes and releasing believers into liberty.
Using the life of Jesus Christ as an example, Pastor Alkali stated that prayer and fasting serve as a platform for glory, noting that Christ’s public ministry was preceded by a period of fasting and divine preparation.
Addressing widespread misconceptions about spiritual authority, the cleric warned that anointing is not a license to misbehave. He explained that anointing operates in levels and is not measured by eloquence, outward appearance, or “grammar,” but by humility, obedience, and willingness to serve God and humanity.
“Anointing is self-announcing,” he said. “You don’t advertise it; its results speak for themselves.”
He further assured believers that God is never a scam, stressing that no one who seeks God sincerely does so in vain. Quoting Scripture, he reminded the audience that the Lord speaks righteousness and declares what is right.
Pastor Alkali challenged believers to examine their personal conduct, asking whether their ways align with God’s standards. According to him, a righteous life removes the burden of self-condemnation and brings peace and confidence before God.
Speaking extensively on the ongoing 21-day fasting and prayer programme, he urged participants to follow all spiritual protocols, noting that prayer and fasting empower believers to walk freely under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon you, and that Spirit brings liberty,” he declared.
He emphasized that believers must live righteously because people constantly learn from their lives, adding that it is impossible to genuinely love God while loving the world.
Referencing Scripture, Pastor Alkali stated that the path of the just shines like a bright light, growing brighter with time. He warned that any service in God’s kingdom done without love is meaningless, stressing that love is the ultimate proof of spiritual maturity.
The cleric further urged believers to reject retaliation, stating that Christians must not repay evil with evil but rather respond with love, as love remains the defining character of the kingdom of God.
According to him, revelation always leads to restoration, adding that many life challenges, delays, and confusions can only be corrected through prayer and fasting. He cautioned believers against undertaking extreme fasts without divine instruction, stressing that one must hear clearly from God before embarking on dry fasting.
The service concluded on a prophetic note as Pastor Isah Lazarus Alkali declared healing over every sick soul, affirming that genuine prayer and fasting bring healing, deliverance, restoration, and divine glory.
