ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria (NCMN) has strongly criticized the Federal Government over the worsening security crisis across the country, declaring that Nigerians can no longer endure the growing wave of banditry, terrorism, kidnappings, and violent attacks.
Speaking during an emergency press conference in Kaduna, the group’s National Chairman, Mallam Jabir Ibrahim Yaro, said the current security situation has left many communities living in fear and uncertainty.
According to the movement, states including Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Benue, Plateau, Borno, Yobe, and Oyo have witnessed deadly attacks between January and June 2026, leading to the loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of thousands of residents.
The group expressed concern that armed bandits continue to terrorize communities in the North-West, attacking villages, kidnapping residents, collecting illegal levies, and preventing farmers from accessing their farmlands.
Yaro warned that the situation is threatening food production and worsening economic hardship across affected regions.
“Citizens deserve security. They deserve peace. They deserve a government that responds swiftly and effectively to threats against their lives and livelihoods,” he stated.
The movement also raised alarm over what it described as the resurgence of Boko Haram and ISWAP attacks, as well as the growing activities of the Lakurawa armed group in parts of Northern Nigeria.
NCMN further lamented the increasing number of military officers killed while defending the country, describing the losses as a major setback to Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.
The group criticized recent comments allegedly made by top government officials regarding the security crisis, insisting that Nigerians are demanding practical solutions rather than explanations.
“No economy can thrive when farmers cannot cultivate their lands, traders cannot move freely, and investors are afraid for their safety,” Yaro added.
Calling for urgent action, the organisation urged the Federal Government and relevant authorities to implement concrete measures to restore peace and protect citizens.
The group vowed to intensify advocacy and civic engagement until meaningful progress is made.
“The time has come for decisive action. Enough is enough,” the movement declared.
