Fresh political tension has emerged within the Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after 55 party aspirants accused the party leadership and the state government of sidelining loyal members who stepped down from contests in the interest of party unity.
The aggrieved members, operating under the Kaduna State House of Assembly APC Aspirants Forum 2026, said they withdrew their ambitions during the party’s internal processes after appeals from party leaders, believing their loyalty and sacrifices would be recognized.
In a statement jointly signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Godwin Luka (Maisolar), and Secretary, Hon. Tahir Gambo Abubakar, the group alleged that repeated attempts to engage the party leadership and the Kaduna State Government had yielded no response.
According to the forum, members voluntarily abandoned their political ambitions to strengthen the APC’s chances during the elections, but have since been excluded from appointments, consultations, and other key political activities.
“We willingly sacrificed our personal ambitions after appeals by the leadership because we believed our loyalty, discipline, and commitment to the party would be recognised and appreciated,” the statement read.
The aspirants further alleged that while party members who remained loyal and obeyed directives had been neglected, individuals who previously criticised the APC were now being rewarded with appointments and political opportunities.
The forum stressed that its members were not demanding special treatment but were calling for justice, fairness, and recognition for their contributions to the party.
They warned that continued neglect could weaken the morale of party faithful and affect the APC’s unity as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
While reaffirming their loyalty to Governor Uba Sani and the APC, the group appealed to the governor and the party leadership to urgently engage them in dialogue to prevent the situation from escalating.
The aspirants also noted that many members of the forum command significant political influence across their constituencies and warned that their supporters were closely watching developments.
“We have no regrets supporting the success of our great party. However, loyalty should be rewarded. Justice, equity, and fairness remain the foundation for sustaining unity and strengthening the APC ahead of future elections,” the statement added.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kaduna State Government nor the Kaduna State APC had officially responded to the allegations made by the aspirants.
