Abuja/Kano, February 15, 2026 –
In a major drug bust, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a China-based Nigerian businessman and two Angolan nationals after they excreted a total of 236 cocaine pellets at airports in Abuja and Kano.
The suspects were intercepted on February 4, 2026, during separate operations at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, 34, a businessman based in Guangzhou, China, was apprehended while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China via Abuja and Doha. A body scan revealed he had ingested narcotics, and under observation, he excreted 52 cocaine pellets weighing 735.95 grams. Ibeanu told investigators he relocated to China in 2024 after previously running a business on Lagos Island.
On the same day in Kano, two Angolan nationals, Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52, were stopped at the departure hall while preparing to travel to Istanbul via Addis Ababa. Body scans confirmed ingestion of cocaine. Under supervision, Mbandu excreted 76 wraps weighing 920 grams, while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets totaling 1.33 kilograms.
The Angolans revealed they were recruited by a Luanda-based automobile spare parts dealer, who promised $3,000 each for successfully delivering the drugs to Turkey.
The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, has been appointed to the post, confirmed that investigations into the drug syndicate are ongoing.
