President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, with the Presidency declining to disclose his exact European destination.

In a statement released on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the trip was described as a continuation of President Tinubu’s holiday, coming ahead of his scheduled official visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

While details of the European stop were not made public, the Presidency maintained that the President’s travel forms part of his private end-of-year engagements before resuming official duties in the new year.

President Tinubu is expected to travel from Europe to Abu Dhabi to attend the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, following an invitation from the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to the statement, the week-long summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will bring together global leaders from government, business, and civil society to drive conversations and actions around sustainable development, innovation, finance, and people-centered growth.

The Presidency confirmed that President Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit.
