The newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Turaki, has made a dramatic plea to US President Donald Trump and the international community to intervene in Nigeria’s political crisis, warning that democracy is under threat. Turaki accused a serving minister, believed to be FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, of leading armed thugs to disrupt party activities at the PDP secretariat, with police support.
Turaki stated, “I want to call on President Trump… what is at stake is not just genocide against Christians, he should come and save democracy in Nigeria. Democracy is under threat. I am calling on all other developed nations, all advanced democracies, come and save Nigeria, come and save democracy”.
The PDP chairman’s appeal follows a violent clash at the party’s national secretariat, where rival factions loyal to Turaki and Wike held parallel meetings, prompting police intervention.
