Businessman Isaac Fayose has publicly urged his elder brother and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, to decline his recent appointment as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), describing the position as being below his political stature.
Reacting in a video shared on social media, Isaac Fayose said his brother had repeatedly maintained after leaving office that he would return to private business rather than accept another government appointment.
According to him, the former governor had previously stated that he would neither seek nor accept appointments as a minister, director-general, senator or any other political officeholder after completing his tenure.
Isaac argued that Ayo Fayose had built a successful business career before entering politics and should remain committed to that decision.
He also questioned the timing of the appointment, suggesting it came amid recent political developments, and described it as a “Greek gift.”
The younger Fayose further expressed disappointment that the former governor was appointed to chair a federal agency instead of being considered for what he described as a higher national position.
Despite his criticism, Isaac said he believes his brother would reject the appointment, insisting that the former governor’s political profile and influence exceed the office offered.
The comments followed the Federal Government’s announcement appointing Ayodele Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Board, alongside several other appointments into federal agencies and commissions.
The appointments, announced by the Presidency, took immediate effect as part of a broader reconstitution of boards across key government institutions.
As of the time of filing this report, Ayo Fayose has not publicly responded to his brother’s remarks or indicated whether he intends to accept or decline the appointment.
