Tensions in the Middle East may be easing, but not without firm conditions, as Iran has rolled out a strict 10-point framework to the United States as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
In a strongly worded statement released through its diplomatic mission, Tehran made it clear that it intends to dictate the terms for ending the conflict.
“You started the war, but Iran will set the conditions for its end,” the statement declared.
At the center of the demands is a call for the complete lifting of both primary and secondary U.S. sanctions, alongside a binding commitment from Washington to non-aggression moving forward.
Iran is also insisting that its authority over the strategic Strait of Hormuz be formally recognized, even as discussions continue over reopening the critical oil transit route.
Other key conditions outlined by Tehran include:
- Full acceptance of Iran’s uranium enrichment programme
- Termination of resolutions from the United Nations Security Council targeting Iran
- An end to directives from the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors
- Withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region
- Financial compensation for damages
- A halt to what Iran described as aggression against allied groups in places like Lebanon
The Strait of Hormuz—a narrow passage linking the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman—remains a critical pressure point, with global markets closely watching any disruption to oil flow.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled willingness to pause further escalation, announcing a two-week suspension of military action to allow negotiations to progress.
Trump said the move followed consultations with Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, who both pushed for restraint.
“This is a double-sided ceasefire. We are very close to a long-term agreement,” Trump stated, adding that most key issues between both nations have already been resolved.
With both sides expressing cautious optimism, global attention is now fixed on whether this fragile window can deliver a historic diplomatic breakthrough.
