Armed bandits have abducted Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, the North-West Youth Leader of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation in Zamfara State, during a brazen attack on his residence in Gusau, the state capital.
SUNTV Global Channel gathered that the abduction occurred late Wednesday night when no fewer than 30 heavily armed gunmen stormed Gusau’s home, overpowering any resistance before forcefully whisking him away in the presence of his wife.
A security monitoring platform, Bakatsine, confirmed the incident on Thursday, stating that security agencies were immediately alerted following the attack. However, the assailants reportedly fled with the victim to an unknown destination, raising fears over his safety.
Residents said the gunmen arrived in large numbers, moving swiftly and with coordination, a pattern increasingly associated with bandit operations in the state.
Zamfara State has for years remained a hotspot for banditry, mass kidnappings, and violent attacks, despite repeated assurances by successive governments and security agencies to restore peace.
Several local government areas within the state and neighbouring communities have witnessed frequent incursions by armed groups, with politicians, traditional rulers, and ordinary citizens increasingly targeted for abduction.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the Zamfara State Government or security agencies regarding the abduction.
