Zamfara State, April 16, 2026

Suspected bandits have abducted the Head of Pharmacy at the General Hospital Nasarawa, Lauwali Sani, while he was travelling along the Gusau–Anka Road in Zamfara State.

Security sources said the incident occurred shortly after the victim passed Mayanchi, a known high-risk area along the highway frequently targeted by armed groups.

According to a security analyst, Bakatsine, the victim was intercepted by armed men who whisked him away to an unknown location. He was said to be returning from Gusau when the attack took place.

Attempts to obtain official comments from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report. The Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to calls and messages.

The Gusau–Anka axis has remained one of the most dangerous routes in Zamfara State, with repeated cases of kidnappings and armed attacks despite ongoing security operations in the region.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident or confirm whether rescue efforts are underway.
