TAMALE, GHANA — Ghanaian police have arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the alleged murder of a fellow Nigerian, Nkemujika Uzochukwu Eze, following a dispute over proceeds from suspected internet fraud activities.
The suspects, identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command during an intelligence-led operation in Tamale near the Ghana–Togo border.
According to police, the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation that they conspired to kill the 36-year-old victim after a disagreement over the sharing of proceeds from alleged internet fraud operations.
The victim’s body was discovered inside his bedroom in Sanzirigu, a suburb of Tamale, on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Officers who responded to the scene found him with a deep cut to the forehead and a towel stuffed into his mouth. Investigators also reported that the bedroom had been ransacked.
During the investigation, police recovered a wooden pestle believed to have been used in the attack, along with other items that have been taken for forensic examination.
The deceased was transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed him dead. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzochukwu, the two suspects, and another Nigerian national identified as Godwin Nwafor.
The Northern Regional Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that all those found culpable would be brought to justice in accordance with Ghanaian law.
