Russia launched a new wave of overnight drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, killing at least four people and intensifying pressure on Kyiv ahead of crucial international talks scheduled to take place in Paris.
Ukrainian authorities confirmed on Sunday that the coordinated attacks targeted several regions of the country as the conflict, now in its fifth year, continues to escalate.
Regional officials in Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region reported that three people lost their lives during the strikes.
According to local authorities, two of the victims were killed after a Russian missile struck an industrial facility in the city of Kryvyi Rig, while another person died in a separate attack elsewhere in the region.
In southern Ukraine, a Russian drone strike on the city of Kherson claimed the life of a 48-year-old resident.
Kherson Mayor Yaroslav Shanko confirmed the casualty, describing the attack as another assault on civilian-populated areas.
The latest barrage comes just days before key diplomatic talks in Paris, where international leaders are expected to discuss measures aimed at increasing pressure on Moscow to bring an end to the war.
Meanwhile, the United States recently approved plans for Ukraine to begin constructing U.S.-designed Patriot air defence systems capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles, a move expected to strengthen Kyiv’s defensive capabilities.
The renewed attacks underscore the continuing intensity of the conflict, with both sides remaining locked in a prolonged struggle despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure peace.
