A major security breakthrough has been recorded in Zamfara State as more than 5,000 displaced residents of Fegin Kanawa community have returned to their homes following a successful police-led operation aimed at restoring peace and stability in the area.

For several months, Fegin Kanawa remained largely deserted after repeated attacks by armed bandits forced residents to flee for safety, abandoning their homes, farmlands, and sources of livelihood.

The situation was further complicated by the difficult terrain and fears that criminal elements may have planted explosive devices within the community, making it one of the most feared locations in the state.

In a determined effort to reclaim the area, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello, led a coordinated security operation designed to secure the community and encourage displaced residents to return.

The operation involved the deployment of additional police personnel, enhanced patrol activities, and the protection of strategic locations to prevent renewed attacks and guarantee the safety of returning residents.

The return of thousands of residents was marked by emotional scenes as families reunited with their homes and began rebuilding their lives after months of displacement.

Community members expressed appreciation to the police and security personnel for restoring confidence and creating conditions that made their return possible.

Local leaders described the development as a major milestone in the fight against insecurity in Zamfara State, noting that the continued presence of security operatives has renewed hope and encouraged residents to resume farming and other economic activities.

Authorities have pledged to sustain security operations in the area to ensure lasting peace and prevent criminal elements from regaining a foothold in the community.
