ABDUCTED NIGERIAN MAJOR GENERAL RABE ABUBAKAR DIES IN BANDITS’ CAPTIVITY

The Katsina State Government has confirmed the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in the custody of bandits, describing the incident as a tragic loss to both Katsina State and Nigeria.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu, who disclosed that the retired military officer died from complications related to diabetes and hypertension while being held captive by his abductors.

According to the state government, despite sustained efforts by security agencies and government authorities to secure his release, the situation ended in tragedy.

“The deceased retired general died a natural death from complications of diabetes and hypertension,” the statement said.

Reacting to the development, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a painful reminder of the security challenges confronting the country.

The governor extended his condolences to the family of the late officer and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government and security agencies to tackle banditry and other criminal activities across the state.

Governor Radda assured residents that efforts would be intensified to bring those responsible for the abduction to justice and to strengthen measures aimed at protecting lives and property.

He further urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies with credible information as the fight against insecurity continues.

The death of Major General Rabe Abubakar highlights the persistent security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria, where kidnappings and attacks by armed groups remain a major concern despite ongoing security operations.
