Troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment under the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected military impostor in Kaduna State.
The suspect, identified as a civilian, was apprehended at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, by troops deployed at Strike Force Base Sabo while allegedly posing as retired Major General A.T. Ibrahim.
According to a statement issued by the Nigerian Army on Friday, preliminary investigations have commenced, after which the suspect will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to preserve the integrity and reputation of the Armed Forces while protecting members of the public from fraudulent individuals impersonating military personnel.
“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its commitment to combating all forms of criminality, including impersonation and other acts capable of undermining public trust in the military institution,” the statement noted.
The Army also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and promptly report individuals falsely claiming military status or engaging in suspicious activities without proper identification.
Security agencies have continued to intensify efforts to crack down on impersonators and other criminal elements seeking to exploit the image of the Armed Forces for personal gain.
