The Nigerian judiciary has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Federal High Court, Kano Division.
Sources revealed that the respected judge reportedly collapsed at his residence in Kano State and was immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead at the State Medical Centre, Kano.
Confirming the tragic development, the Director of Information of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Catherine Oby Christopher, stated that Justice Yunusa passed away after efforts to save his life proved unsuccessful.
The late jurist has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
Justice Yunusa was widely respected for presiding over several high-profile and politically sensitive cases during his time on the bench. One of his notable rulings came in the aftermath of the 2023 general elections involving Labour Party candidates in Kano and other states across Nigeria.
His passing marks a painful loss to Nigeria’s judiciary, the legal community, and the nation at large.
