Fear and tension have gripped residents of Akotogbo community in Irele Local Government Area of following the discovery of two residents found dead in separate bush locations within the past one month.
The deceased victims were identified as Loyinmi Bode and Andrew Friday. According to reports, both men were discovered at different times in isolated areas of the agrarian community, raising serious concerns over the growing insecurity in the area.
The disturbing incidents have sparked panic among residents, many of whom now fear for their safety and are calling on security agencies and the Ondo State Government to urgently intervene before the situation worsens.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the , SP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that police operatives had already been deployed to Akotogbo and neighbouring communities to maintain peace and reassure residents.
According to him, the command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
“The command is fully aware of these developments and remains resolute in its constitutional mandate of protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding residents of Ondo State,” Jimoh stated.
He further revealed that additional security measures had been introduced in the affected community to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The police spokesperson also confirmed that investigations into the mysterious deaths had commenced, adding that efforts were ongoing to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
Residents of the community have continued to express fear over the incidents, urging authorities to act swiftly to stop further killings and restore confidence in the area.
