BREAKING: Two Nigerians Arrested in India Over Drug Trafficking, Visa Violations

Authorities in have arrested two Nigerian nationals over alleged involvement in drug trafficking and immigration violations in the country’s capital.

The suspects, identified as Chijioke Wisdom (26) and Chigozie (43), were apprehended by police in the area of following a targeted sting operation based on intelligence reports.

According to local authorities, the operation was launched after credible information indicated that a shipment of illicit drugs was scheduled for delivery in the area. Police reportedly intercepted the suspects at about 10:30 p.m. while they were riding on a scooter.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of multiple hard drugs, including 102 grams of cocaine, classified as a commercial quantity, alongside 13 grams of MDMA and 85 grams of methaqualone.

Further investigations revealed that both men were residing in India without valid travel documents. Officials confirmed that the suspects’ visas had expired, placing them in the country illegally.

The duo has since been charged under provisions of India’s stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with authorities intensifying efforts to uncover the broader network behind the alleged trafficking operation.

Police sources say investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the drugs and identify possible accomplices, including local distributors and other foreign nationals.

The incident adds to a growing number of cases involving foreign nationals, including Nigerians, linked to drug-related offenses and immigration violations in major Indian cities, prompting increased scrutiny and enforcement actions by law enforcement agencies.
