The political atmosphere in has become increasingly tense as internal disputes rock the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with fresh allegations and denials heightening uncertainty within the party.
Party stakeholders claim that Senator is facing growing suspicion over her political direction, amid accusations that she may be aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The controversy reportedly stems from her alleged boycott of the party’s state congress, despite earlier internal agreements meant to guide the process. Some party leaders say this action has deepened mistrust and widened internal divisions.
Tensions were further amplified by reports linking the reactivation of Binani Air—her airline—to approvals said to have been issued by federal aviation authorities, a development some ADC members describe as politically sensitive given the timing.
Within the party, there are claims that these developments point to possible external influence aimed at weakening opposition structures ahead of future elections. However, no concrete evidence has been publicly presented to support these allegations.
Amid the internal unrest, the ADC has also moved to dismiss reports suggesting it is in coalition talks with the (PRP), calling such claims false and misleading.
In an official response, the party insisted that it is not engaged in any merger or alliance discussions, stating that its leadership remains focused on ongoing legal and internal party matters rather than political realignments.
The ADC further emphasized that it is committed to resolving its leadership challenges through legal and democratic processes, while expressing confidence in the judiciary to address disputes surrounding its structure.
Despite these assurances, internal disagreements continue to surface, with stakeholders warning that unresolved tensions could weaken the party’s position in Adamawa and beyond as political alignments begin to shift ahead of the next election cycle.
For now, the ADC maintains that no coalition negotiations are ongoing, even as speculation and internal friction continue to shape the party’s political landscape in the state.
