Popular Nigerian comedian and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge during a skit production. The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment publicly, said the comedian was injured during the filming session.

“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t yet know exactly how it happened, but members of his crew quickly rushed him to the hospital,” the source disclosed.

The injured comedian was first taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where medical personnel administered emergency treatment.

He was later referred to Duchess International Hospital, located in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Ikeja, where he is currently receiving further medical care and is said to be recuperating.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, stated that authorities became aware of the situation after the hospital reported the arrival of a gunshot victim.

“The hospital contacted the police to inform us that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were immediately dispatched to the hospital, where we discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy,” she said.

According to the police spokesperson, the comedian was found on a stretcher with a gunshot injury to his thigh.

She added that although the hospital where he was treated is in Lagos, the incident itself reportedly occurred in Sango-Ota, which falls outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos State Police Command.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command had not received any official report regarding the incident.

“The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it has not been officially reported to us,” he stated.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine how the shooting occurred.
