China and the Japanese Communist Party have strongly condemned the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, describing the act as a serious breach of international law and a direct attack on national sovereignty.
In an official statement released Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China said Beijing “firmly opposes and strongly condemns” the reported operation, stressing that the incident represents a major violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and security.
Chinese officials warned that such actions undermine global diplomatic norms, emphasizing that respect for sovereignty and non-interference remain fundamental principles of international relations.
According to the statement, the killing “tramples on the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter” and threatens peace and stability across the Middle East and beyond.
Although China did not directly mention Washington, the condemnation follows widespread reports that the operation was authorized under U.S. President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, in Japan, Kazuo Shii, chairman of the Japanese Communist Party, issued a sharp rebuke, calling the alleged assassination “utterly shocking” and a blatant disregard for international law.
Shii argued that no country, regardless of military power or global influence, has the legal authority to carry out a unilateral assassination of a sovereign nation’s leader.
He further warned that such actions risk setting a dangerous global precedent and could escalate tensions worldwide.
Both China and the Japanese Communist Party have called for an immediate halt to military operations and urged global powers to prioritize diplomacy in order to prevent further instability.
