The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, Paul Moses, has issued a strong warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying the people of the capital will resist any attempt to manipulate the upcoming council polls.
Speaking to supporters in Abuja ahead of Saturday’s election, Moses insisted that votes in AMAC cannot be “written” the way he suggested they allegedly were in Obi-Akpor, Wike’s political stronghold in Rivers State.
“Our votes will count. This is not Obi-Akpor. You cannot write votes in AMAC,” he told a cheering crowd.
Moses urged residents to remain vigilant, describing the election as a defining moment for governance in the area. He promised a new leadership style marked by boldness, fairness, and accountability.
In an emotional appeal, the ADC flagbearer accused current authorities of failing residents and stressed that the city belongs to ordinary people.
“We own this city. It belongs to the suffering masses and young people — not to any single individual,” he said.
The remarks come amid rising political tension ahead of the council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, where Wike now oversees administrative affairs as minister under the current administration. Observers say the outcome of Saturday’s polls will test the strength of opposition voices and public sentiment in the capital.
