Residents of Niger State are once again gripped by fear following a violent bandit assault that left several women abducted and a police facility destroyed in Agwara Local Government Area.
SUNTV Global gathered that the coordinated attack took place on the night of January 31, 2026, when heavily armed gunmen stormed multiple communities, shooting sporadically and forcing residents to flee for safety.
During the invasion, the attackers reportedly set the Agwara Divisional Police Station ablaze, leaving the building severely damaged and raising fresh concerns about the ability of security forces to protect vulnerable rural areas.
A security alert released on Friday by analyst Bakatsine confirmed the identities of some of the abducted victims, many of whom are young women.
“These are some of the girls abducted by bandits in Agwara LGA of Niger State on the night of January 31, 2026 — the same night the police station was burned. We pray for their safety and the safe return of all those still in captivity,” he stated.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing insecurity across rural communities, where residents continue to face repeated threats of kidnapping, arson, and armed attacks.
Security observers warn that without stronger protection measures, women and young girls remain among the most vulnerable targets in the ongoing wave of bandit violence.
