Troops fighting insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East have arrested suspected collaborators linked to Boko Haram, including an alleged drone supplier, during intensified military operations across Adamawa State and Borno State, SUNTV Global Channel reports.
According to a statement released Friday by the military, the operations were carried out by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters as part of efforts to dismantle terrorist supply chains in the region.
Military authorities disclosed that troops from Sector 4 under the 28 Task Force Brigade arrested a 28-year-old suspect, identified as Ismail Muhammed, in Hong Local Government Area. He was described as a logistics supplier to insurgents.
Items reportedly recovered from him included:
- An AK-47 magazine
- 7.62mm ammunition rounds
- Military gear
- Assorted food supplies
He is currently in custody undergoing investigation.
In a separate operation around the Visik River line in Madagali LGA, troops ambushed and killed a suspected insurgent commander identified as Abdullahi Mafa. An AK-47 rifle and loaded magazine were recovered from the scene.
Acting on intelligence, troops also arrested a 64-year-old suspect, Dauda Usman Gubula, at Madagali Motor Park. He is alleged to have supplied drones to insurgents, which were later weaponised and used in attacks against troops.
Recovered items included:
- Two aerial drones
- Drone accessories
- Twenty solar power banks
Operations Continue in Borno
Meanwhile, in Borno State, troops working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force repelled insurgent activity in Ngamdu, neutralising a suspected informant attempting to infiltrate defensive positions. Logistics materials were also recovered during the operation.
The military high command praised troops for their commitment, noting that the ongoing operations are part of sustained efforts to disrupt insurgent networks, restore stability, and protect communities across the North-East.
Authorities also urged personnel to maintain operational momentum in the fight against terrorism.
