Ghana Launches Global Manhunt Over Viral Non-Consensual Videos Scandal

Ghanaian authorities have declared an international pursuit of a Russian national accused of secretly recording and distributing intimate videos of Ghanaian women without their consent, in a case officials describe as a serious form of digital sexual exploitation.

In a statement dated February 14, 2026, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection confirmed that the suspect allegedly engaged in sexual activities with several women, filmed the encounters, and later circulated the footage online.

The Ministry stressed that the non-consensual recording and sharing of intimate content constitutes a criminal offence and a grave violation of personal dignity and privacy under Ghanaian law.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect may have already left Ghana. However, authorities insisted this would not weaken efforts to ensure accountability.

“Jurisdictional limitations will not deter the State from pursuing justice,” the statement emphasized.

The government disclosed that it is working closely with the Ghana Police Service, security agencies, and international partners to explore all legal options, including extradition processes and mutual legal assistance.

Officials also revealed ongoing collaboration with digital authorities to:

  • Strengthen online safety measures
  • Engage social media platforms for content removal
  • Improve reporting and takedown mechanisms for image-based abuse

The Ministry confirmed that psychosocial support and legal assistance are being provided to affected individuals through confidential channels to protect their identities and well-being.

Citizens were also urged to exercise caution in online interactions and promptly report suspicious or abusive activity.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of all persons, warning that perpetrators of digital sexual exploitation will face full legal consequences — regardless of their location.
