A 33-year-old Nigerian man identified as Olusegun Onidare has been arrested and charged in Canada following allegations that he sexually assaulted two females in separate incidents in Brampton, Ontario.
The Peel Regional Police said the incidents occurred on Monday, August 31, after two females reported being sexually assaulted by an unidentified man.
According to police, the first incident involved a woman in her 20s who was shopping at a mall around the Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard area when the suspect allegedly approached and sexually assaulted her.
Later the same day, police said the suspect allegedly approached a female under the age of 18 at a transit terminal near Central Park Drive and Queen Street East.
The suspect reportedly engaged the girl in conversation before allegedly sexually assaulting her.
Following the reports, police released information seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
A member of the public later recognised the man from the police appeal and contacted investigators, leading to Onidare’s arrest.
Police said Onidare, who was described as having no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of breach of a probation order.
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and Onidare is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
