OSUN ELECTION: TINUBU CONGRATULATES ADELEKE, SAYS RESULT REFLECTS VOTERS’ CHOICE
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome of the governorship election as a reflection of the will of the people.
The President disclosed that he had earlier spoken with Adeleke by telephone to congratulate him following his victory.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated the confidence Osun voters had placed in him.
Tinubu urged the governor to use his second term to unite the people of Osun State, regardless of their political affiliations, and focus on the growth and development of the state.
The President also commended the other candidates who participated in the election, saying their participation contributed to the development of Nigeria’s democratic culture.
He described the election outcome as evidence that democracy can continue to thrive in Nigeria.
Tinubu further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes, according to the results announced by INEC.
The President’s congratulatory message comes amid reactions from several political leaders following Adeleke’s victory and his return for another term as governor of Osun State.
