Jos South, Plateau State – December 29, 2025: Chaos erupted in Jos South LGA as five Fulani youths were critically injured in a sudden attack by suspected Berom militias on December 27. The victims were shot near Anguldi Filling Station along Bukuru Express Road while returning from the bustling Bukuru Cattle Market (Kara Market).
The victims—Abubakar Aji, Idi Saleh, Sulaiman, Nura Muhammad Detta, and Dabo Abubakar—were rushed to Jos University Teaching Hospital after the unprovoked shooting.
Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), condemned the attack as “senseless and criminal” and demanded swift action from security agencies. He urged authorities to reinforce security along major roads to protect all citizens and prevent further bloodshed.
MACBAN warns the shooting may be a retaliatory strike linked to the December 16 massacre at a Barkin Ladi mining site, which left 12 miners dead. The group called on the Plateau State Government to act decisively to break the cycle of violence.
Authorities have yet to comment on the incident, raising fears of escalating ethnic tensions in the state.
