The Youth President of Borgu Kingdom, Comrade Abdullahi Yahaya Sadauki, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Niger State Governor Umar Mohammed Bago, and security agencies to urgently address the worsening insecurity in Borgu Kingdom, warning that continued bandit attacks threaten the survival of several communities.
Speaking at a press conference, Sadauki said residents could no longer remain silent as lives continue to be lost and communities live under constant fear of armed attacks.
According to him, the violence has claimed numerous lives, displaced thousands of residents, and left more than seven villages and towns destroyed. He listed affected communities to include Konkoso, Kasuwan Daji, Pissa, Gangale, Woro, Tungan Makeri, Old Gangale, Boiya, Bakinba, and Wawa, among others.
The youth leader also alleged that livestock have been rustled, farmlands abandoned, businesses crippled, and economic activities severely disrupted as a result of the persistent attacks.
Sadauki further claimed that many schools outside New Bussa have remained closed since January 2026 due to insecurity, while healthcare services in several affected communities have been severely disrupted.
He also expressed concern over the destruction of the only bridge linking New Bussa, the headquarters of Borgu Emirate, to other parts of the kingdom, saying the damaged infrastructure has remained unattended for more than three months.
Calling for urgent government intervention, Sadauki urged authorities to establish additional Forward Operating Bases in vulnerable communities, strengthen intelligence gathering, empower local vigilante groups, and ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attacks.
He also appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), humanitarian organisations, and development partners to provide food, medical assistance, shelter, and other relief materials for displaced residents.
The youth leader further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, the National Assembly, and the media to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across Borgu Kingdom.
Reaffirming the commitment of Borgu youths to peace and lawful cooperation with security agencies, Sadauki warned that urgent action was needed to prevent further loss of lives and destruction of communities.
His appeal comes weeks after reports of coordinated bandit attacks in Borgu Local Government Area, where several people were killed, homes were destroyed, and livestock stolen during attacks on rural communities.
