The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced March 9, 2026, as the commencement date for the nationwide physical and credential screening of candidates in the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja and signed by PSC spokesperson Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission disclosed that the exercise will run simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, lasting for six weeks and ending on April 18, 2026.
According to the Commission, all applicants who completed the online registration are required to immediately log into the recruitment portal to verify their status and print essential screening documents. These include the guarantors’ form, application submission slip, invitation slip, credential screening form, and physical screening form.
The PSC emphasized that candidates must present the printed documents at their assigned screening venues on the exact date and time indicated on their invitation slips.
Screening will take place at designated locations within each state, as specified in individual invitation printouts.
Required Documents
Applicants are expected to come along with the following:
- Invitation slip showing assigned table
- Credential screening form
- Original National Identity Number (NIN) printout or NIMC card
- O’ Level certificate (GCE/SSCE)
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- Local government/state of origin certificate
- Trade test certificate (for specialist applicants)
- Completed guarantors’ form with referees’ passport photos attached
Candidates must also package original and duplicate copies of their credentials separately in two white flat files, each bearing recent passport photographs.
Strict Dress Code Announced
To ensure uniformity and discipline, the Commission directed applicants to appear in white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts, and white stockings.
Meanwhile, PSC Chairman Hashimu Salihu Argungu reiterated that the recruitment process is completely free of charge and warned applicants against falling victim to scammers.
He assured that the exercise would be conducted transparently and stressed that anyone attempting to defraud applicants would be arrested and prosecuted.
The Commission urged candidates to remain vigilant and rely only on official communication channels throughout the recruitment process.
