California Governor Gavin Newsom has launched a blistering attack on U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of using federal agencies and the Department of Justice to intimidate political opponents and their families.
In a video message shared on social media, Newsom alleged that federal investigators have recently approached his relatives, friends, and former associates in what he described as a politically motivated effort to uncover damaging information against him.
According to the governor, the investigations are not based on any evidence of wrongdoing but are instead linked to growing speculation that he may contest the U.S. presidency in the future.
“Donald Trump isn’t coming after me because I committed a crime. He’s coming after me because I’m considering running for president,” Newsom declared.
The California governor further accused Trump of turning government institutions into political weapons, claiming that critics and perceived rivals have repeatedly found themselves under federal scrutiny.
Newsom also alleged that members of his family, including his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom, have become targets of what he described as a campaign of intimidation.
Despite the pressure, the governor insisted that neither he nor his family has anything to hide and challenged investigators to examine his records.
In one of his strongest attacks yet, Newsom labeled Trump “the most corrupt president in American history,” accusing him of using the presidency for personal enrichment through business ventures, foreign connections, and cryptocurrency projects.
He argued that the White House has been transformed into what he called a “marketplace where influence and access are for sale.”
Addressing Trump directly, Newsom vowed not to be intimidated.
“You can investigate me. You can harass me. But leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta,” he said.
The governor concluded by promising to continue speaking out against what he called abuses of power, insisting that America belongs to its citizens and not to any single political leader.
The latest confrontation marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political feud between Newsom and Trump, fueling speculation about a possible future presidential showdown.
