Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his leadership style, accusing him of spending more time dancing than governing the state ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
Okpebholo made the remarks while addressing supporters at an APC campaign rally in Osun State alongside Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. The rally was organised to canvass support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as “Ambo.”
Addressing party supporters, the Edo governor repeatedly mocked Adeleke’s well-known dancing, claiming it had overshadowed governance during his administration.
According to Okpebholo, Osun residents deserve a government focused on development rather than entertainment, alleging that Adeleke spends more time dancing than attending to the affairs of the state.
The governor also alleged that Adeleke rarely participates in meetings involving APC governors, claiming the Osun governor is disconnected from the realities of governance.
During the rally, Okpebholo urged residents to reject vote-buying, while controversially advising them to collect any money allegedly offered during the election but cast their votes for the APC candidate instead.
He further compared Adeleke to former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, describing the Osun governor as Obaseki’s political ally and insisting that Osun voters should vote for change.
Campaigning for APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, Okpebholo promised that an APC-led administration would prioritise infrastructure, quality roads, improved schools, and sustainable development across Osun State.
He also criticised the condition of roads in parts of the state, alleging that his experience while travelling through Osun reflected the need for better infrastructure.
Concluding his address, the Edo governor called on residents to support the APC at the polls, saying the election presents an opportunity for what he described as a new direction for Osun State.
The comments come as political campaigns intensify ahead of the Osun State governorship election, with major political parties stepping up efforts to win the support of voters across the state.
