Nigeria-based Venezuela Solidarity Campaign (VSCN) condemns alleged U.S. threats against Venezuela, calls for the release of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, and urges Nigerians to resist imperial aggression.

A Nigeria-based coalition supporting Venezuela has sharply condemned alleged U.S.-led threats of military intervention and economic pressure on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, calling for the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in Nigeria (VSCN) issued the statement on Tuesday, following a solidarity visit to the Venezuelan Embassy in Lagos in November 2025. The coalition described the visit as a peaceful diplomatic initiative opposing foreign-backed regime-change operations, sanctions, and military threats against Venezuela.
The statement was jointly signed by:

“Our position is unwavering: sovereign nations must never be destabilized, coerced, or invaded under any guise,” the coalition said. “Dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for international law—not military occupation or imperialism—should guide global relations.”
The VSCN accused the U.S. of using anti-drug and anti-arms trafficking narratives as pretexts to justify foreign interventions and seize natural resources. Venezuela’s oil reserves and strategic lands, the coalition said, are the real targets.
The group also condemned renewed threats of invasions against Greenland, Iran, and Nigeria, warning that such actions are motivated by a desire to exploit resources.
Addressing criticism over its solidarity walk to the Venezuelan Embassy, the coalition urged Nigerians to engage in peaceful marches and mass actions to oppose imperialism and defend national sovereignty.
“We call on Nigerians who value global peace and justice to stand with Venezuela and reject all forms of imperialist aggression against nations’ democratic rights,” the statement read.
The VSCN further warned that certain Nigerian political actors opposed to the Bola Tinubu administration may be aligning with U.S. interests, which could justify foreign interference. “What Venezuela is facing today could threaten Nigeria tomorrow if vigilance is abandoned,” the coalition said.
In conclusion, the VSCN reaffirmed its calls for:
- The immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.
- An end to U.S. interference in Venezuelan affairs.
- Full respect for Venezuela’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic institutions.
- Strengthening pro-people policies, national unity, and social justice in Nigeria as a first line of defense against imperialism.
