ABAKALIKI, EBONY STATE — Pastor Isah Lazarus Alkali has reaffirmed the Christian belief that Jesus Christ still heals and delivers people today, urging Christians to reject fear, guard their words and maintain unwavering faith in God’s ability to intervene in difficult situations.
Pastor Alkali made the remarks while delivering a sermon titled “Working Dominion Over Sickness – Part 1B” in Abakaliki, Ebony State.
Speaking on the subject of divine healing, the pastor referenced Jeremiah 30:17, emphasising God’s promise to restore health and heal His people.
He also cited Jeremiah 30:20–23, stressing God’s promises concerning His people and encouraging the congregation to trust in God’s power and protection.
According to Pastor Alkali, God remains the same and does not change, and Christians should therefore not allow sickness or difficult circumstances to weaken their faith.
Pastor Alkali Warns Against Fear
Pastor Alkali identified fear as a major challenge that can negatively affect a person’s ability to confront sickness and other difficult circumstances.
He urged members of the congregation to resist fear and believe in God’s capacity to heal, restore and deliver.
Citing 2 Timothy 1:7, he reminded the church that God has not given believers the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.
He further cautioned members against making negative declarations about themselves, urging them to be careful with their words and avoid using their mouths to speak hopelessness or destruction into their lives.
‘God Is The Greatest Physician’
The pastor described God as the greatest physician, capable of healing and restoring those who trust in Him.
He encouraged Christians to continually give thanks to God for His blessings and previous interventions, stressing the importance of gratitude in their walk of faith.
Pastor Alkali urged the congregation to remember what God has already done and continue trusting Him for greater things.
‘The Word Of God Is Prophetic’
Referencing Ezekiel 37:1–5, Pastor Alkali spoke about the prophet Ezekiel’s encounter with the valley of dry bones.
He used the passage to illustrate what he described as the power of God’s Word, stressing that even situations that appear dead, dry or hopeless can respond to the voice of God.
According to him, the Word of God is prophetic and has the power to bring life, restoration and transformation.
He therefore encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in faith, reject fear, speak positively and continue to trust in God’s ability to bring healing and deliverance.
Pastor Alkali’s message centred on faith, divine healing, the power of God’s Word, gratitude and overcoming fear when confronted with sickness and challenging circumstances.
