The (IPOB) has raised fresh concerns over what it described as a coordinated attempt to infiltrate and destabilise its operations, alleging that state-backed agents are posing as commanders of its armed wing online.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, , the group warned the public to disregard any directives circulating on social media platforms in the name of the (ESN).
According to IPOB, individuals issuing such instructions are impostors working to create confusion and weaken trust within its structure.
“Those parading themselves online as ESN commanders are enemies of our cause and are part of a broader effort to destabilise our operations,” the statement read.
The group stressed that ESN operates under a strict and centralised command structure and does not issue or receive instructions through platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok, or X.
“ESN does not take orders online. It has never done so and will never do so,” Powerful stated, emphasizing that any contrary claims should be ignored.
IPOB further alleged that the activities of these so-called commanders are aimed at misleading the public, spreading propaganda, and undermining what it described as its internal security framework.
The group also linked the situation to the continued detention of its leader, , claiming his incarceration is politically motivated due to his role in establishing ESN as a regional security outfit.
While referencing security challenges in parts of Northern and Middle Belt Nigeria, IPOB argued that ESN has contributed to relative stability in the South-East through what it described as “silent and effective” operations.
“ESN operations are not conducted online or for public show. They are structured, disciplined, and guided by command—not social media influence,” the statement added.
The group reiterated its position that any individual or group using the ESN name online for directives, fundraising, or influence should be treated as fraudulent.
IPOB concluded by reaffirming its unity and operational structure, insisting that its mission remains intact despite ongoing challenges.
