“From Labour Icon to Private Jet Luxury”: Adeyanju Blasts Senator Oshiomhole Over Viral Video

February 3, 2026 | SUNTV Global News

Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has launched a scathing attack on former Edo State governor and serving senator, Adams Oshiomhole, following the circulation of a viral video showing the lawmaker aboard a private jet with a young woman.

The footage, which has spread rapidly across social media platforms, has reignited public debate over political excess, elite privilege, and the widening gap between Nigeria’s ruling class and ordinary citizens.

Reacting to a report by SaharaReporters, Adeyanju questioned the source of Oshiomhole’s wealth and criticised what he described as a dramatic contrast between the senator’s working-class background and his present lifestyle.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju wrote:

“Comrade wey dey ball! Politics money is sweet. A former textile worker living like Pablo Escobar. No evidence he inherited money from rich parents or that he is a successful businessman. Just politics.”

The lawyer further compared Oshiomhole’s lifestyle to that of other politicians accused of living lavishly despite having no visible sources of income outside public office.

The short video clip shows Senator Oshiomhole relaxed and jovial aboard a luxury aircraft, sparking renewed criticism from Nigerians who say such displays are insensitive amid rising fuel prices, inflation, and worsening economic conditions.

In a related development, SaharaReporters later identified the woman seen in the video as a South African-based explicit content creator who reportedly describes herself as a “professional sugar baby.” This revelation further intensified public reactions online.

Several social media users accused the senator of hypocrisy, recalling his years as a fiery labour leader and former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

One user wrote:

“This is the same man who led strikes over fuel price increases. Now fuel is how much, and he’s busy chopping life.”

Another commenter alleged misuse of public resources, while others expressed frustration that such displays of wealth are often defended by political supporters.

Oshiomhole rose to national prominence as a labour activist before serving two terms as governor of Edo State. He later became national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently represents Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

Despite the growing controversy and public criticism, Senator Oshiomhole has yet to issue an official response to Adeyanju’s remarks or the viral video as of the time of this report.

The episode has once again placed the spotlight on public accountability, political lifestyle scrutiny, and the expectations Nigerians hold for leaders who once championed the cause of the working class.
