A fire incident has been reported at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, with emergency responders working to bring the situation under control.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday, stating that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was immediately deployed to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.
According to FAAN, emergency personnel remain on the ground responding to the incident, while efforts continue to ensure the safety of passengers, airport staff, and airport facilities.
The authority also confirmed that no casualties or loss of life have been reported as of the time of this publication.
FAAN assured the public that additional information would be released as investigations and emergency response operations progress. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The latest incident comes months after a February 2026 fire at the airport’s Terminal 1, which damaged critical communication equipment used for air traffic operations and temporarily disrupted flight activities before emergency systems were activated.
