The Nigeria Police Force has detained an Abuja-based woman, Peace Ikpo, a former front desk officer at Skybet, also known as B-Sports Gaming Limited, a Chinese-owned company, in connection with an alleged Ponzi scheme linked to the firm.
SUNTV Global Channel learnt that Ikpo, who worked as an office administrator and front desk officer at the company, was initially arrested on July 6, 2024, by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department (FID) during investigations into the company’s activities. She was later granted bail on July 14, 2024.
Following her release, Ikpo reportedly complied with police directives by reporting to the FID at intervals, until officers later informed her that she no longer needed to report unless contacted.
Re-Arrest After Police Invitation
However, on December 22, 2025, Ikpo was re-arrested after honouring what was described as a police invitation. Sources close to her family said she was immediately detained upon arrival, contrary to expectations.
“After her initial release, she continued to report at the Force Intelligence Department from time to time until the police told her to stay back and that they would reach out whenever she was needed,” a source told SUNTV Global Channel. “Surprisingly, on December 22, 2025, she honoured another invitation and was arrested and detained immediately.”
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Ikpo was informed that her former employer was being probed for allegedly operating a Ponzi scheme. She was questioned extensively about the company’s operations and her role during her period of employment.
Ikpo reportedly told investigators that her responsibilities were strictly limited to administrative and front desk duties, including receiving correspondence, running errands, and forwarding documents to management.
“She explained everything she knew about the company and her role, which was essentially that of an office administrator and front desk officer,” the source said. “She was not a managing director, chief executive officer, or director of the company, but simply a staff member carrying out basic office functions.”
Detained Through Festive Season
Despite her explanations, Ikpo has remained in police custody since her re-arrest. Sources said she was kept in detention, reportedly in solitary confinement, throughout the Christmas and New Year holidays.
“She honoured the police invitation on December 22, 2025, and has been detained since then,” a family source said. “She spent Christmas and New Year in detention, which has caused serious concern to her family.”
As of the time of filing this report, the police were yet to formally charge Ikpo to court or publicly clarify the legal basis for her prolonged detention.
The development has raised questions among rights advocates about the continued detention of junior employees over alleged corporate crimes, especially when key decision-makers of the company are reportedly not in custody.
