Suspected Boko Haram terrorists, formally known as Jama’atu Ahlissunnah Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, have released a chilling video showing 176 abducted victims—including women, children, and a nursing mother—allegedly kidnapped from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In the footage obtained by SUNTV Global Channel, one of the militants interrogates the captives, asking where they were taken. Three women, speaking in Hausa, responded that they were abducted in Woro. Dozens of children and women appear distressed, with worn and dirty clothing, highlighting the harsh conditions under which they are held.
The militants accused the Kwara State government of deliberately downplaying the abductions. “The Kwara State government lied to Nigeria and the world,” one terrorist claimed, insisting that only 20–30 kidnappings were officially reported, while 176 captives remain in their custody.
This revelation has reignited fears over security in Kaiama and other parts of Kwara North and South Senatorial Districts, which remain vulnerable to attacks by armed groups. As of now, the Kwara State Government has not responded to the allegations or confirmed the actual number of abducted persons.
The abductions follow a brutal attack on February 4, 2026, in which dozens of residents of Woro were reportedly massacred. Among the dead were two wives of the Emir of Woro, several of his children, the Chief Imam, a school principal, a headmistress, and students returning from school. The Emir, Alhaji Saliu Bio Umar, remains missing, raising fears of abduction or death.
Reports indicate that the attackers belong to a Sadiku-led Boko Haram faction, with suspected links to terrorist networks across the Sahel region. The militants reportedly returned to Woro after the initial attack, killing additional residents who had survived or returned to check on their homes.
Sources suggest the attack was a retaliation against the Emir, who had resisted the group’s attempts to enforce extremist teachings and reportedly alerted Nigerian military authorities to their activities. Military personnel responded but were overwhelmed by the number of attackers, allowing the militants to carry out mass killings and destruction over several hours.
The video also shows the Emir’s palace ablaze, bodies lying in the streets, and villagers lamenting the destruction and loss of life. His official vehicle was seized and allegedly used to transport abducted victims to unknown locations.
