Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorist attacks across Nigeria, describing them as a grave threat to national peace, unity, and stability.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Atiku said the continued killings and violent attacks against innocent citizens “must never be allowed to define who we are as a people,” while extending condolences to families affected by the violence.

He stressed that the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property, urging renewed urgency, coordination, and stronger resolve in tackling insecurity across the country.

Atiku also commended the international community, particularly the government of the United States, for its continued support in the global fight against terrorism, noting that sustained international cooperation remains vital in addressing security challenges.

He further acknowledged efforts by former U.S. President Donald Trump in global counterterrorism initiatives, describing such partnerships as important for global peace and stability.

His remarks come amid heightened security concerns in Nigeria following a series of deadly attacks on military and civilian targets in different parts of the country, including recent assaults in the North-East.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also expressed condolences over the killing of soldiers in recent terrorist attacks, describing them as national heroes who paid the ultimate price in service to the country.

The Defence Headquarters had earlier confirmed that troops came under heavy attack during operations in Borno State, with several officers reportedly killed in the encounter.

Atiku’s statement adds to growing public debate on insecurity in Nigeria, as calls intensify for stronger military coordination, intelligence sharing, and international cooperation to curb extremist violence.

SUNTV Global Channel will continue to monitor security developments and provide updates on national and international responses.
