A chieftain of the (APC) in , Abdul-Rahoof Bello, popularly known as Labelabe, has alleged that recent attacks in parts of the state are part of a coordinated effort to displace indigenous communities.
Speaking during a television interview, Bello expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity in Kwara South, particularly in Oro-Ago and surrounding communities, which he said have suffered repeated attacks.
According to him, the pattern of violence suggests a deliberate agenda aimed at forcing out local residents and taking over their lands.
“These attacks are not random. There is a coordinated agenda to displace people and occupy their land,” Bello stated.
He criticised the state government led by , accusing the administration of failing to move beyond public statements to decisive action on the ground.
Bello also took aim at the Deputy Governor, , noting that several of the affected communities are within his home area, yet he has not publicly responded or visited victims.
“We have not heard a word from him—not even a visit to the affected villages. That is troubling,” Bello said.
While acknowledging that the governor had visited some communities in the past, Bello insisted that more proactive and sustained intervention is needed to address the security situation.
Residents in parts of Kwara South have continued to report attacks on rural settlements, leading to displacement and heightened fear among locals.
Bello warned that failure to act swiftly could worsen the humanitarian situation and further destabilise affected areas.
However, his claims about a broader agenda to displace specific ethnic groups remain allegations, as no official confirmation has been provided by security agencies.
