SUNTV Global Channel – United States President Donald Trump has ruled out the possibility of a ceasefire with Iran, declaring that he no longer intends to pursue diplomatic engagement with Tehran as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
Speaking on the growing Middle East crisis, Trump sharply criticized Iran’s leadership, describing them as “sick people” and insisting that further negotiations would serve no purpose.
“I don’t want to deal with them any longer. As far as I am concerned, it is over,” Trump said, adding that Iran could not be trusted in future nuclear negotiations.
The U.S. president also warned that Iran would pose a serious global security threat if it were to acquire nuclear weapons, accusing Tehran of repeatedly failing to honour previous commitments.
Trump’s remarks come amid one of the most serious confrontations between Washington and Tehran in recent years.
Iran has claimed responsibility for attacks targeting 85 U.S. military installations across the Middle East, describing the operation as retaliation for recent American airstrikes on Iranian territory. However, U.S. officials had not confirmed the claims or reported casualties at the time of filing this report.
According to Washington, its military strikes were launched after attacks on three commercial vessels travelling through the Strait of Hormuz, including oil tankers linked to Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The escalating conflict has triggered heightened security alerts across several Gulf nations, including Bahrain and Kuwait, raising fears that the confrontation could spread further across the region.
Iranian state media also reported explosions in Sirik, Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island following the U.S. military operation, while concerns continue to grow over the security of the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
In another move expected to increase pressure on Tehran, the United States announced the withdrawal of a waiver that had allowed Iran to continue limited oil exports under an interim peace arrangement. Analysts say the decision could place additional strain on Iran’s economy while reducing the prospects for renewed diplomatic negotiations.
With military exchanges intensifying and economic measures becoming tougher, international observers warn that the crisis risks expanding into a broader regional conflict involving multiple countries.
