Fear has gripped residents of Nassarawa Burkullu, a community near Bakin Gari in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, following a fresh bandit attack that reportedly led to the abduction of several villagers.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, the heavily armed attackers stormed the community on Monday evening, forcing residents to flee while abducting an unspecified number of people.
“The bandits raided Nassarawa Burkullu near Bakin Gari in Bukkuyum LGA, abducting several residents,” the analyst disclosed, adding that families are anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones as fear continues to spread across the community.
The latest incident has once again highlighted the worsening security situation in Zamfara, where rural communities continue to face repeated attacks, kidnappings, and violent raids by armed groups.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have not confirmed the exact number of victims, while the Zamfara State Police Command and the state government are yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
Bukkuyum Local Government Area has remained one of the flashpoints of bandit activities in Zamfara State, with residents repeatedly calling for stronger security operations to protect lives and property.
The incident comes just days after several farmers were reportedly abducted by suspected bandits in Wasagu and Dadin Kowa communities of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State, raising fresh concerns over the growing insecurity affecting farming communities across northwestern Nigeria.
Residents and community leaders are urging security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue those kidnapped and restore lasting peace to the affected areas.
