A House of Representatives aspirant from , Abin Al’ajabin Zazzau, has spoken publicly about what he described as years of humiliation, insults, and attacks on his dignity linked to his political ambition.
Zazzau, who is contesting for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the , made the remarks during an interview with RFI in Hausa, where he expressed deep frustration over how he has been treated in the political space.
According to him, he has been repeatedly mocked and insulted not only for his political views but also for his personal background and physical appearance, saying the attacks have extended to his family members.
“For political reasons, my dignity has been violated. I have been humiliated, insulted, and disgraced,” he said, adding that the situation has not discouraged his political ambition.
Despite the alleged mockery, Zazzau insisted he remains committed to contesting elections, saying his motivation is rooted in the need to reform Sabon Gari constituency and empower young people affected by social vices such as gang activities.
He argued that many youths in the area are trapped in harmful groups and urgently need empowerment programmes that would help them become self-reliant rather than depend on handouts.
“Our people don’t just need food or handouts. They need empowerment and opportunities to learn how to earn a living,” he said.
Zazzau also criticised the level of development in Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, describing it as inadequate despite its economic importance to Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
He noted that the area hosts major institutions, industries, and academic hubs, yet still suffers from poor infrastructure and underrepresentation.
He further revealed that he had previously attempted to contest the same seat during the 2023 general elections but stepped down following appeals from political stakeholders.
Zazzau maintained that his experience in politics and understanding of governance would enable him to deliver better representation if given the opportunity.
The aspirant’s comments have sparked conversations around political tolerance, inclusion, and the treatment of young aspirants in Nigeria’s democratic space.
