The has declared its readiness to contest and win the 2027 general elections, dismissing speculations that it may be excluded from the electoral process as “baseless and misleading.”
In a statement released on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, , insisted that there is no legal or constitutional barrier preventing the ADC from participating in the upcoming elections.
The clarification comes amid growing rumours following a recent Supreme Court judgement linked to internal party disputes, which some analysts speculated could affect the ADC’s eligibility.
However, the party firmly rejected such claims, stating that it remains fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.
“The ADC will not only participate in the 2027 elections, but will present credible and competent candidates capable of leading Nigeria out of its current challenges,” the statement read.
The party also took a swipe at the current administration led by , asserting that it is preparing to offer Nigerians a viable alternative to what it described as failed governance.
According to the ADC, its focus is on strengthening grassroots structures, mobilising citizens, and building a nationwide political movement aimed at addressing insecurity, rising cost of living, and limited economic opportunities.
Reaffirming its position, the party described itself as a major opposition force determined to prevent Nigeria from sliding into a one-party state.
“We remain a law-abiding political party. There is no legal impediment to our participation, and any suggestion to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and undermine our growing momentum,” Abdullahi added.
The ADC urged its supporters to remain focused and ignore political distractions, stressing that the mission to reposition requires unity, organisation, and sustained engagement.
As political activities gradually build toward 2027, the party’s declaration signals an intensifying contest for power, with opposition groups positioning themselves to challenge the ruling establishment.
