Bandits Kidnap Nursing Mother, Leave Newborn Behind As Kajuru Community Rallies To Save Baby

A heartbreaking incident has unfolded in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State after suspected bandits abducted a nursing mother barely two weeks after childbirth, leaving her helpless newborn behind.

According to community sources, the armed attackers stormed the village during a recent raid, whisking the woman away while abandoning the infant. Since the attack, the mother remains in captivity, while residents have collectively stepped in to care for the baby.

In a video circulating online, a visitor to the community was seen holding the infant while describing the deep suffering faced by locals. He lamented that many rural tragedies rarely receive full media attention despite the scale of devastation.

He expressed shock at the situation, noting the painful irony of a newborn being separated from her mother so soon after birth. The visitor also criticised what he described as a lack of adequate government response to the persistent insecurity in the area.

Community leaders confirmed that residents now contribute money to buy milk and essential supplies for the baby, who has been placed under the care of the kidnapped woman’s sister.

Kajuru has for years remained one of the flashpoints of violence in Kaduna State, with frequent reports of kidnappings, killings, and destruction of homes forcing many families to flee.

Residents say they continue to hope and pray for the safe return of the abducted mother while struggling to cope with ongoing insecurity.
