NJC Clears 14 New Federal High Court Judges, Sends Names to President Tinubu

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 14 candidates to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court, following the conclusion of its latest deliberations.The recommendation was made during the 110th meeting of the Council, held between January 13 and 14, 2026, and presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.Confirming the development in a statement issued on Thursday, the NJC’s Deputy Director of Information, Kemi Ogedengbe, said all the nominees were thoroughly screened and cleared after security agencies submitted reports indicating no adverse findings against any of the candidates.According to the Council, the recommended judges met all statutory and professional requirements and were found suitable for elevation to the Federal High Court bench.
